As the first Vectron locomotive of the ÖBB, the 1293 200 was painted with the Nightjet design in May 2021. This advertises the new Nightjet trains, which are scheduled to be used from the end of 2022. The locomotive is equipped with the country package DE-AT-PL-NL-BE-CZ-SK-HU-RO-BG-HR-RS.
Since the end of 2016, the ÖBB has been one of the few large transport companies to operate a dense and attractive night train service with popular Destinations such as Brussels, Hamburg, Venice, and Warsaw. ÖBB has ordered a total of 13 seven-car train sets from Siemens Mobility to further expand this service in Europe and offer even greater comfort for sustainable travel. They will initially be deployed on the routes from Austria and Germany to Italy.
