  • Ideal for hedge planting
  • As shelter or nesting site, as well as a food source for birds
  • Crabbit apple as a pollen donor, with cherry-sized fruits
  • Blackthorn as a pretty ornamental shrub with edible fruits
  • Chocolate berry as a superfruit and true floral wonder

Unfortunately, natural bird nesting sites are becoming increasingly scarce; with this hedge set, you give the birds back a piece of nature. Hedges are not only suitable as shelter or nesting sites. They also provide natural food for birds. The hedge is suitable for a height of approximately 3 meters.

The "Golden Hornet" crabapple is a highly recommended crabapple variety. In early May, the plant produces pinkish-white blossoms that exude an appealing fragrance. These are followed by small, yellow, edible fruits that remain very decorative well into winter. Its foliage consists of small, delicate apple leaves. This variety grows bushy, upright, reaching up to 5 m tall and almost as wide. It is undemanding and looks particularly beautiful in combination with other plants.

The blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is a versatile garden shrub. It is deciduous and densely branched with thorns. Early in the gardening season, the blackthorn, also known as "blackthorn," adorns itself with countless small white blossoms that exude a delicate, fresh scent. The blossoms of this medicinal plant are indispensable in traditional naturopathy. They also attract important insects for pollination as bee pasture. The characteristic blue, slightly sour stone fruits ripen in late summer and can be harvested after the first frost. The cold then neutralizes their bitter tannins. The fruits are then wonderfully processed into jelly, juice, jam, or liqueur.

The black chokeberry is an undemanding shrub that requires little care in the right location and thrives in most garden soils.
In May, the Aronia melanocarpa is adorned with a cloud of white blossoms that attract bumblebees and bees. In autumn, the shrub also impresses with its fantastic red autumn color.
The fruits, which ripen in loose umbels from August onwards, also surpass many native berry varieties in terms of their content of healthy plant pigments (flavonoids), folic acid, and vitamins, especially vitamins C and K.
In some circles, the berries are even considered a genuine medicinal remedy: They are said to support the immune system and counteract inflammation. Dried, the fruits are delicious in muesli. Above all, the black berries are suitable for delicious, healthy juices, jams, or compotes.
