Many years ago, when the Necromancer first settled in Dol Guldur, the Elves fled the southern reaches of Mirkwood. The Dwarves of Nibin-dûm, however, had not abandoned their ancient homeland. They continued to live hidden in the mountains of Mirkwood until an earthquake devastated their halls and caused their tunnels to collapse. Nibin-dûm was lost, and the Dwarves went to live with their cousins in the Iron Mountains.
The Secrets of Mirkwood expansion to The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game contains two new, standalone adventures, The Oath and Depths of Nibin-dûm. The goal of the scenarios is to find the goblin hideout in the Mirkwood Forest and rescue the imprisoned forest people before it is too late. Along the way, you'll have to contend with giant spiders, the forest's confusing paths, and, of course, the goblins you hunt.
Each scenario covers half of the journey, with The Oath covering the search for the goblins' lair and The Depths of Nibin-dûm covering everything that happens there.
Secrets of Mirkwood can also be played in campaign mode, either as a continuation of the Paths Through Mirkwood campaign from the base game or as its own mini-campaign with two scenarios.
