Azul invites you to decorate the walls of the royal palace in Évora with magnificent tiles. The originally white and blue ceramic tiles, called azulejos, were once introduced by the Moors.
The Portuguese adopted them entirely for themselves after their King Manuel I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the ornate tiles during a visit to the Alhambra in southern Spain. He immediately instructed his servants that the walls of his own palace in Portugal should be decorated with similarly magnificent tiles.

To do this, the best tiles must be fetched from the factories at the right time. Depending on their position in the mosaic, the craftsmen sometimes need many tiles of one type, sometimes just a few, to be allowed to expand the pattern. Anyone who miscalculates and has to take too many tiles loses points. However, those who tile continuously and end up with complete rows and columns in the mosaic are rewarded.
