Gardener's tip:

The ideal location for an insect hotel is both fully sunny and protected from the elements. This ensures that the necessary warmth for breeding is present, while also providing sufficient protection from wind and precipitation, so that the insects will accept the artificial accommodation. A side effect is that the natural materials used last as long as possible. Furthermore, as many herbs, flowering wild plants, as well as native shrubs and trees as possible should be found in the vicinity to meet the insects' nutritional needs. The flight path for the animals should be on the side facing away from the weather and be clearly visible to the animals. For some species, it is also ideal if sufficient clay, sand, and water are provided either in one of the compartments or nearby on the ground.
