After colliding with a freight train in February 2002, the 1142 685 was repaired. The front of driver's cab 2 received the then-new, small headlights with adjacent tail lights, a larger shunting handle, and handrails below the windows.
On the side of driver's cab 1, you can still find the large lower headlights, the smaller shunting handle, and the handrails below the front windows, which extend to the driver's cab doors. The blood orange paintwork was also retained. In this form, the locomotive can still be found on Austria's railways today, albeit in the Valousek design.
