The bumblebee house was specially developed as a shelter for bumblebees. The house is tailored to the needs of bumblebees down to the smallest detail.

The right location alone determines whether the house will be accepted by bumblebees. It should definitely not be placed in direct sunlight. Ideally, the box is warmed by the sun in the morning hours and shaded for the rest of the day. It should also be protected from driving rain. The house should either be placed on bricks or buried up to the bottom edge of the entrance hole.

The bumblebee house has a galvanized roof that opens upwards.

Dimensions:

  • 28.8 x 17.3 x 15.5 cm

TIP:

Protect your bumblebee colony from wax moths to prevent devastating damage.

Especially strong, but also weak bumblebee colonies can be attacked by wax moth caterpillars. Ensure that the nesting box is always well sealed. Strong bumblebee colonies usually guard the entrance hole well, so the wax moth will try to enter the box through every crack from the outside. If they succeed, the colony is usually lost without complex countermeasures.

A wax moth barrier/flap offers help against wax moths.

Important: The bumblebee house must have additional ventilation options, such as small holes in the side wall.

How do I recognize wax moths?

Webs: The wax moths leave behind tunnels that look like a dense spider web: They use the webs to protect themselves from the bumblebees.

Dropping: You can see, among other things, small black crumbs on the floor.

White cocoon: The moths spin themselves into a web and eat into the wood to survive. pupate.
